September 2020 Road Run

We had planned to have a members BBQ in the show field but due to the change in restrictions we had to have a rethink. Then I decided to have a road run on the Saturday and to do some country lanes, we met at 10am in Denmead in the field several members turned up with their jeeps and my Dodge and Chris Salters Dodge and of course Don’s Morris Miner and a few new members. So we set off to our first sight the Pompey palls museum at fort Widely on portsdown hill Chris Pennycook kindly opened the doors for us and showed us around in two groups it tells the storey of the Pompey pals in WW1 through to WW2 full of great stuff well worth a visit, we left here and made our way through Hambledon up to Butser Hill and then down the Other side towards East Meon were we stopped at a nice pub call Isaac Watson can recommend this nice food and a pint we sat in a marque in the back garden, after an hour we made our way through the village pass the source of the river Meon up on to Old Winchester hill from here we went down to Corhampton across the A32 in to Exton were I took a bit of a wrong turn less said better” any way made our way up to Beacon hill down the other side back across the A32 at Warnford up to Old Winchester Hill were we finished at about 3.30pm in all a good day every one seem to enjoy it the weather held off with great views of the Hampshire country side.                                                Richard Salter.
